Traffic Exchanges and the Internet Marketer

Internet marketers know that they are in a competetive industry and that there are many avenues of approach for them to market their products or services. Which is the best? All have their positive and negatives. But one to consider, is the user of traffic exchanges.

A traffic exchange refers to the concept of a venue (the traffic exchange) where you are exchanging your visits to other member sites, for other members to view your sites. This helps to increase traffic to your own website and bringing in more traffic. A rather simple process, but effective one, especially for the internet marketer.

There have been many traffic exchanges come and go over the past few years. The long standing ones, are generally the most effective. They will tend to have a ground membership that is active, plus newer members signing up on a continual basis. Thus, generating more exposure for you.

But what is the cost of traffic exchanges? Generally, they are free, and should be free. Members of traffic exchanges usually have to do a little "work", i.e. surf other member's sites. In this vein of thinking they are "earning their keep" at the traffic exchange. Although this is nice in practice, can be a little over burdening, especially if time constraints are of a concern for you. The better traffic exchanges, will offer paid services, just to ease your marketing concerns. These paid memberships can be in the form of extra credits, better surfing ratios, banner displays, even email promotion. All great advertising tactics for the savvy internet marketer.

As previously mentioned, the traffic exchanges that have been around for a while (generally more than 2 years) are the most effective for advertising. Why? Well, its simple. These exchanges tend to be more professional and cater to the needs of their membership. The "fly by night" exchanges and sometimes pop up, and then disappear only hurt the traffic exchange industry, and its members. Also, these exchanges, usually have a good core membership that are interesting in viewing new products or services, and can be new clients for your own internet endevors.

I must reiterate also, that this can be free advertising, if you want to put a little effort into it. Being a free member of a traffic exchange refers to the vast majority of any exchange. The more serious marketers will of course opt for the paid services of the exchange. But in fact, any free member can have great marketing success.

One final point to mention is that there are two main type of traffic exchange: manaul surf and autosurf. The manual surf exchanges are very much more effective in advertising and promotion, simply due to the fact that your site will be seen by other manual surfers. Autosurf exchanges have their place, but its not usually for the marketing end of this, mainly because one cannot guarantee that someone is viewing your site.

So, in general, if you are serious about internet marketing for your products and/or services ... take a look at the traffic exchanges out there, and especially the manual surf exchanges. You may discover an untapping resource for your advertising needs.

How To Turn Spam Into Website Traffic by Michael Brymer

I'm sure you have placed an ad or two in the free classifieds before today but ... did you do it the right way? Are you using spam to help boost your website traffic?

1. OK, let me explain

Free classified ad sites are easy enough to find, simply go to any search engine and put in "free classifieds" and place your ad in as many sites as you like.

Most classifieds ask you to put in your email address for responses. Don't use your normal address, get an auto-responder.

Use the auto-responder address in your ad. Your auto-responder instantly sends out your pre-imputed message to those requiring more information.

2. But what else happens to your ad?

Basically two things; responses from interested persons and spam from spammers. The advantage of an auto-responder is this: From your free classified ads your auto-responder address will most likely be harvested onto spam lists by email gathering software. Which is a good thing!?

Now every time someone spams your auto-responder address they will get your auto-responder message advertising your website, opportunity etc. Spam lists in turn get on other spam lists that eventually get sold to real people using real addresses believing them to be opt in lists.

If you get sick of the spam mail being redirected to you by your auto-responder, you can have your auto-responder messages directed to a dead address.

3. Dealing with classifieds

Now let's say you've decided to put in five classifieds a day. What I recommend you do is; each time you get to the page where you enter your ad details that you copy the URL to that page and keep it filed on your desktop. After one month of doing this you will have about 150 URLS that take you directly to the ADD YOUR POST page of 150 classified sites. This will also give you a speedy advertising system.

Simply cut and paste the ADD POST URLS you collected to an email and send it to yourself. Then all you have to do is click on the URLS and you'll be taken directly to the ADD POST of each classified. With this system you may now add your ad to 10 sites per day as things are a whole heap faster.

4. Bring in the robot

You'll soon be sick of typing or pasting your name into each classified so to cure that there is a free form filling robot that you should use. By clicking or pasting in the following URL and hitting enter you can now download the form filling, password protecting robot.

Your personal password will stop others from accessing this great little robot. You'll never have to remember passwords etc again.

5. Tracking outstanding classifieds

If you want to know which classified sites are pulling the most prospects you can key each ad with a number. E.g. "Website Hosting Now MLM, for more information put "Free 22" in the Subject". Just remember to put the same number next to the URL you saved from that web page so you can tell which site is attracting the most people. You can probably think of other ways to track ad responses. Tracking is important because you'll be able to concentrate on the more responsive classifieds and discard the rest.

Also make sure your ad title stands out amongst the crowd e.g.

******$$$$ MLM HOSTING $$$$******

Also put in a few key words at the end of your ads as some sights run like a search engine. e.g.mlm, money, etc.

Now when you see spam in your inbox and notice that they sent it to your auto-responder address you'll appreciate it. It also saves you time sending your message back to them as they already have it. Those high tech spamming robots now work for you, free of charge :)

For example, on reading some of the forum posts you will find that people have doubts they would like to clear. What you can do is make a list of these common doubts and do some research work on your own. With online search engines it's all very simple.

Try and create some interesting content centered around the accumulated information. Address questions directly and keep the article flowing in such a way that the reader is engrossed. Your aim is to impress them to such an extent that they are bound to click your link and visit your website.

Go to the forums and post your articles as if offering solutions to people's problems. This will help in building up your credibility. The end result will be tons of targeted traffic visiting your website everyday.

The signature box is all about free advertising so it must be instantly spike interest. Keep it short and appealing. People get bored with seeing the same signature box so remember to change it regularly, maybe every month. It should always be keyword rich.

Another interesting feature about forums are epic threads. They are issues that are being discussed and viewed by thousands of visitors with several pages of posts. Put in a relevant post there for maximum advantage.
